Biography

Vittoria is a proud immigrant New Yorker, born in Torino, Italy. She came to this country at four years old and has spent her entire adult life in New York City, first in Brooklyn and then moving to Lower Manhattan in the late 90s.  She and her husband, a native Brooklynite, have raised their four children in Lower Manhattan.

Beginning as a community organizer in Brooklyn, Vittoria organized welfare recipients who had their benefits threatened by the Giuliani Administration. She organized two welfare worker strikes against the City, and demanded – and won – the support these working people needed.  

Even before going to law school, she helped attorneys investigating organized crime in the Manhattan DA’s Rackets Bureau, and supported human rights cases around the world at the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (now known as Human Rights First). During law school, she served in the Immigration Unit of the Legal Aid Society, representing individuals seeking asylum, and worked with one of the top prosecutors in Italy in rooting out corruption in government.

Following years as a City lawyer investigating issues critical to public safety at the NYC Department of Buildings and NYC Department of Investigation, Vittoria is now a partner at Balestriere Fariello, a public service oriented firm in Lower Manhattan that has proudly handled #MeToo cases, fought against consumer fraud and human trafficking, and defended whistleblowers.
