Housing
Vittoria is an ardent advocate for true affordable housing, embracing bold, innovative, community-led projects and policies that provide a substantial number of affordable units in neighborhoods throughout our district.
Vittoria has:
-
Advocated and fought for tenants at Gateway Plaza to maintain quasi-rent stabilization.
-
Lead efforts to demand a fully affordable supertower at Site 5 of the World Trade Center.
-
Helped organize a rally for homeowners in Battery Park City to demand reasonable ground leases.
Vittoria will:
-
Continue to support community efforts for deep neighborhood affordability such as the Coalition for a 100% Affordable 5WTC, bringing a fully affordable 80-story residential building to the affordable housing-deficient neighborhood of FiDi.
-
Invest in and protect NYCHA by increasing state funding for repairs and maintenance, rather than relying on public-private partnerships that harm tenants and weaken the city’s affordable housing stock.
-
Hold developers accountable through reform of the 421-A tax exemption (renamed the ‘New York Affordable Housing Program’) which funnels tax money to developers under the guise of affordability.
-
Fight inflated rents caused by pied-á-terre and vacant housing.
-
Protect tenants by strengthening the insufficient Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 through the implementation of a Good Cause eviction measure.
-
Protect homeowners and pass legislation to prevent outrageous ground lease resets in Battery Park City.
-
Voice support for city-level efforts to prevent overdevelopment and tenant harassment, such as the full Chinatown Working Group Plan.
